Hello,

I'm Max

Your independent 2D Motion Designer

I have 20 years of visual work under my ''crooked cap'' and I still get excited about a good brief. Cartoon-brained since childhood, I follow trends closely, experiment constantly, and never take my creative tools for granted. Somewhere between too artistic for corporate and too commercial for fine art. That's my sweet spot !

Background

The classic story ↓↓↓

As a kid, I watched hockey with my grandfather while redrawing team logos. The game? Not really my thing. As a teenager I was making t-shirt graphics, home printed for my friends.

Ten years later I was working as a graphic artist for fashion licensing in Montreal: Converse, SpongeBob, small streetwear brands. Speed and how to work inside someone else's brand, that's what that world gave me.

Then Beijing. Three years freelancing for various Chinese brands , building street art marketing for Adidas China. When you can't rely on language you learn to read a room, trust your instincts, and let the visuals do the talking.

Back in Montreal I completed a Bachelor of Graphic Design at UQAM's School of Design. That's where design got a lot more serious and I had my first taste of motion...

My next chapter was GeM, a small interactive studio building projection mapping for museums and cultural institutions around the world. Six years of full pipeline, real technical depth, from first concept to the last pixel on the wall...

I went independent in 2023.

When I'm not tweaking keyframes

Pulling myself away from the screen takes real effort. ↓↓↓

When I manage it, I'm usually fixing something broken, swapping computer parts, getting lost in a sci-fi comic novel, or painting when the mood hits.

I have a small dog named Molly and some chickens that remind me to go outside, and a garden that needs attention all summer. Some evenings end near the fire pit for a 5à7 Quebec style (happy hour), drinks, fresh air, good conversation.

If you're a creative and want to hang out virtually, don't be shy. Always happy to connect and exchange about freelance life, design, or motion.

2D generalist motion designer. Montreal, Quebec, Canada. French and English. Working with agencies across North America and beyond.
